Two years ago I decided my web presence needed a facelift. I had yet to learn the hard way that some things are better left to other people, no matter how stubborn I can be about it. I tried my hand at designing and coding the HTML and CSS myself and now have a pretty looking semi-functional site in a testing folder on my server somewhere to show for it.
Two years later and I finally took the advice “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should” a little more to heart and made the wisest decision of 2012 yet — I purchased the ProPhoto Blogs WordPress template, and a custom theme that I was able to fully adapt further to showcase my brand. And I now have a beautiful, fully functional website, blog, and portfolio to show for it — and just two weeks after making the decision to go for it instead of two years!
Please take a look around, I’ve added lots of useful information to the site and I’m so excited to introduce it! My old blog still exists at it’s address — blog.kellytarleton.com so be sure to update your bookmarks with the new blog address — www.kellytarleton.com/blog.
Thank you so much for stopping by! If you’re at all curious about my progression in online self-promotion, be sure to check out the screenshots in one of the final blog posts on my old blog, The evolution of a web presence: redesigning my blog and website.
